The B group of vitamins contain essential nutrients and although they each have distinct roles they work together and are found in similar foods. B Vitamins are water soluble and are not stored in the body and therefore have to be replaced every day.

The Recommended Daily Allowance is 1.4 milligrams and good food sources are brown rice, wholegrains, wholewheat flour, yeast extract, nuts, beans, peas, cereals, potatoes and pork.

A sign of defiency would be extreme weakness, depression, poor memory, headaches and numbness or tingling in the extremities. Supplements should not be taken by people with kidney disease or children under 12 years of age.
