Our knitwear originates from our herd of fifty-four alpacas. Their fleece is organically processed in as environmentally friendly way as possible with no dyes, chemicals or heat, thereby protecting the natural lustre and elasticity of this luxuriously soft yarn. Our hand-knitted, hand-woven and crochet items are made in the natural colours of the herd: jet black, winter white, warm cream, pale fawn, milk-chocolate brown, conker colour, pale grey and rose-grey. Our clothing ranges from ponchos to jumpers, scarves to shawls, jackets, gloves, hats and much more. Many items are knitted with yarn from one alpaca with a photograph of them on the label. We offer yarn for sale in mostly 4-ply, 2-ply, Double knit and Aran weights with some yarns from ‘named’ alpacas. This wonderful yarn is delightfully soft, springy and easy to work with, while still being softer, warmer and more durable than sheep wool. Knitting kits, teddy bears, wheat hand warmers, material stuffed hearts, bird nesting material and fly-tying kits also available! Alpaca felted items under production.
Alpacas have been bred for 5,000 years in the South American Andes for a highly prized, cashmere-soft fleece, the finest of which was reserved for Incan royalty and was called ‘Fibre of the Gods’. Alpaca fibre uniquely shares the characteristics of both hair and wool, is free from lanolin, making it hypoallergenic and perfect for those with wool allergies.
Alpacas are part of the Camelid family, uniquely charming and intelligent, they are also easy to care for and gentle to work with. We call them a detox for the soul…………
