Dorset Blue Soup Co
Producers of a range of genuinely fresh home made soups. By using local ingredients wherever possible and only working with fresh produce we are able to ensure both quality and traceability. We make all our own vegetable stocks and don’t believe in adding any of those nasty ‘e’ numbers or preservatives. They are all gluten-free.
All of our ingredients are hand prepared here in the kitchen ensuring only the best quality goes in. Some of the range have a hint of our very own Dorset Blue Vinny Cheese which we also make here on the farm, using the milk from our own herd of friesian dairy cows.
All of our soups freeze brilliantly - perfect for that last-minute lunch or supper. They can also be used as a pasta sauce or poured over a jacket potato too.
Regular Gold Award winners from the Great Taste Awards and from Taste of the West you could certainly pass these genuinely home-made soups off as your own at a dinner party!
We have also just launched a range of 3 chutneys that have been specifically developed to go with our Dorset Blue Vinny Cheese -
Woodbridge Chutney - a delicate blend of local pears and spices
Spicy Tomato Chutney - a lively blend of tomatoes and eastern spices - Gold Award Winner from the Great Taste Awards 2007
Sweet Pickled Cucumbers - local cucumbers pickled in spices
Dorset Blue Vinny Cheese
We are the only producers of the genuine Dorset Blue Vinny. Resurrected by my father, Michael Davies, 25 years ago after it had completely disappeared due to the creation of the Milk Marketing Board who was able to offer a better price for farmers milk. Made here on the farm in the heart of rural Dorset, using our milk from our own herd of friesian dairy cows we are able to offer full traceability and monitor the quality of milk. It is still made using unpasteurised milk which allows each cheese to develop its’ own character according to the time of year, the weather and indeed I am sure what colour socks my father wears when he is milking the cows!
With the subtle veining pattern it offers a slightly less hard-hitting flavour than other blue cheeses and will continue to mature as long as you have it. Brilliant to freeze and also brilliant to cook with.
